Uncurl Your Fingers & Rejoice!
Good morning!
The Lord put His finger on an area of my life and I knew it was coming. For a few days I have asked Him to change the desires of my heart to line up with His. This morning, they did!
How awesome is our God!
I can't get into all the details, but I had this lurking feeling for a long time that the area of finances would need to be challenged so that I'd uncurl my fingers.
I don't know if you curl your fingers around any certain things in your life. Perhaps it is the thing that you use to fill you up: food, drink, shopping, social media, TV, or whatever else seems to take up more of your attention than you would like.
For me, I've always been a saver and a budget maker and keeper. I married someone who has taught me the value of enjoying today and not saving forevermore for a rainy day. However, he also sees the value in being diligent and careful and in planning for the future.
One area that I prayed about during the Spring, after reading a book called Faithful with Much, is the area of finances. Being diligent is important but also allowing God to use what is ALREADY His (!) means uncurling my fingers from the control of it.
This morning I realized that I could be joyful as I lost that tight grip. I could be sooooo excited to see what doors He would fling open as I submit that area to Him. Instead of dreading the pain of being refined by the fire, I can and will rejoice that He is my Lord and not my money. He is my Lord and not what I own. He is my Lord and not food or drink or success or any other thing that will never satisfy!
I journaled all of that this morning after praying and then I flipped open my Bible and here is the verse that my eyes fell on immediately:
"Blessed are the people whose God is the Lord." Psalm 144:15b
Coincidence? I think not :)
What is your God? Who is your Lord? I guarantee you that nothing will satisfy the desires of your heart more than the Lord our God!
