Karma? Nope! Sow & Reap
Good morning!
I sat in church listening to the verses being read and then the pastor spoke about them. I leaned into my husband and said "those are the verses I just read." Does that surprise me? It still does! I had already written the following message, but I had to come back to add this paragraph because Wow God.
As I pray for the people in my life that are really being challenged, I find comfort in these verses, and I hope you will too:
Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him. Psalm 126:5-6
It seems to me that the person in this scenario isn’t “feeling it” as he goes out to sow seed. He’s not super excited and thrilled .... but he’s doing it anyway.
He returns, though, with joy.
All the times that we wonder whether the seeds we sow even matter, all the times we think ‘will sorrow never end’, all the times we feel like giving up..... in faith, despite our feelings, we can model ourselves after Jesus.
He continued to do the Father’s will despite the reactions and rejections of others. He continued to ‘keep it movin’ and press on.
He didn’t get caught up in the weeds but sowed seed and then let the harvest come as it would.
We can be sure that God has ultimate authority and is using anything and everything for His purpose.
Our job is to sow despite weeping and consider how Jesus would react to situations.
Then, by His divine timing, we will return with songs of joy.
